TRAVEL TO FRANCE FROM THE UK BY PLANE The nearest airport is Nice which is approximately 100 kms from St André. It is a major airport served my many airlines including British Airways and Easyjet http://www.nice.aeroport.fr Marseille airport is slightly further away at approximately 170kms from St André and is also served by British Airways and Easyjet http://www/marseille.aeroport.fr BY CAR There a large number of ferry companies offering Channel crossings http://www.directferries.co.uk/ but Eurotunnel is the quickest way to make the crossing from Folkestone to Calais . The drive from Calais to St André takes around 12 hours if you use the motorways, whilst the scenic route is slower but much prettier. The other option is to take the French motorail which transports you and your car overnight from Calais to Nice and it is then an hour and a half drive from Nice to St André. http://www.raileurope.co.uk/frenchmotorail/ BY COACH There is a daily coach that travels to and from Nice airport to Gap stopping at St André en route. It costs around 12 euros for a single trip and takes around 2 hours. If your flight times work with the coach times, and you don't need a car while you are in St André, then this is a great option. Please contact us for a current timetable but the coach normally leave St Andre at 10.45am arriving at the airport at 12.30pm and the return journey leaves Nice airport around 3.20 pm arriving in St Andre at 5.00pm (NB: this service does not operate on a Sunday) GETTING FROM NICE TO ST ANDRÉ There are a number of options available depending on whether you want to have your own transport while you are here. Below is a brief summary and we would be happy to help advise you on the best travel arrangements to fit in with your holiday plans and travel times. COACH There is a daily coach that travels to and from Nice airport to Ga,p stopping at St André en route. It costs around 12 euros for a single trip and takes around 2 hours. If your flight times work with the coach times, and you don't need a car while you are in St André, then this is a great option. Please contact us for a current timetable but the coach normally leave St Andre at 10.45am arriving at the airport at 12.30pm and the return journey leaves Nice airport around 2.40pm arriving in St Andre at 4.10pm (NB: this service does not operate on a Sunday) TRAIN The Chemin de Fer (mountain railway) runs 4 times daily between Nice and Digne les Bains. The journey from Nice to St André takes around 2 ½ hours and the cost is approx 15 euros for a single trip. The current timetables can be found via this link http://www.trainprovence.com NB: The Chemin de Fer train station is not the same location as the main SNCF train station in Nice - the easiest option is to get a taxi from the airport to the Nice Gare du Sud - around a 15 minute ride away. If you use either of these forms of transport, we would be happy to collect you from St André and bring you up to the house.
CAR HIRE All the major car hire companies operate out of Nice airport but it worth booking in advance through either Holiday Autos or Nova Car Hire who search all the suppliers to get you the cheapest deal http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/ http://www.novacarhire.com/ MOTORBIKE HIRE For an alternative means of transport you can hire a Harley Davidson from Eagle Rider in Antibes and experience the thrill of the mountain roads from the back of this classic motorbike.
